09/16/2026 NVBDO proposes higher license fees and new business rules
The Nevada Board of Dispensing Opticians is considering Proposed Regulation R117-26. The draft would raise several Board fees and add record-keeping, confidentiality, and audit requirements for optical businesses. It would also set standards for both in-store and online dispensing.
Fee changes in the current LCB draft include:
Apprentice application, from $100 to $200
Dispensing optician application, from $150 to $250
Apprentice renewal, from $100 to $200
Dispensing optician renewal, from $350 to $500
A new $250 fee for the Laws and Ethics Exam
Before adopting a regulation, the Board must survey small businesses under NRS 233B.0608. Licensees recently received that survey. Responses go into the Board’s Small Business Impact Statement. The survey does not change current fees or the 14-hour CE requirement.
R117-26 is still a proposal. OAN will watch for the public hearing date and report how members can comment.
